You need to seek out counseling for porn addiction now.

There is help out there and I strongly suggest you make the effort to change your life. It won’t be easy, but then what other choice do you have?

You made some bad choices by getting involved in that way of life, now you need to get yourself out of it and live a better life. You can do it, get help.

That’s very sad. I guess it’s somewhat like other compulsions–the compulsion to drink and take drugs, for example. I imagine loneliness may play some part, as it does in alcoholism.

Perhaps you need to go the the main website for Alcoholics Anonymous and read some of their material.

Their main idea is that the only way for an addict to break an addiction is to recognize his powerlessness over it, and to ask a Higher Power–which doesn’t have to be God–for help.

Carl Jung, the psychologist, tried to treat a man for severe alcoholism. Finally, he gave up, and, in total exasperation, perhaps, said “You need to find God.” A group of alcoholics decided there might be something to that, tried it, and were successful. That group led to the founding of AA.

The simple answer, is “Pray.” This might not be so simple if you don’t believe in God, but I suspect that you do, somewhere inside, because of the guilt and remorse that you feel.

If you like, try repeating these words: “I can do all things in Christ, who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13).

And remember that there is no reason God will not help you, because you’re no worse than anybody else.

I don’t mean to preach, but I hope this helps you.

NOTE: I did a little research on this subject and found that, unfortunately, there is a certain anti-porn movement that is led by the exteme right wing. There are groups online that seem to be set up to help people with porn addictions, but they may have a religious and/or poltical agenda–like those groups who are out to “cure” gay people.

It’s unfortunate because I know there are many men who’d just like to stop doing this stuff–wasting their money, etc. They may have a religious reason, or they may not.

If you decide to look into these groups for help, you might want to be cautious about what you’re getting involved in.
Depends on your own beliefs.
