Keeping in Mind That A.I.D.S. Is NOT Over in America….?
Question by Thomas P: Keeping in mind that A.I.D.S. is NOT over in America….?
….. are we simply managing the disease with medications so that drug companies can make billions of dollars? No one is actually talking about a CURE anymore!!! A.I.D.S. in Africa is absolutely overwhelming!!! Is there anyone else out there who is wondering why there are no news stories anymore on A.I.D.S. and the people who are continually impacted by this devastating disease? I am deeply moved by this issue. Isn’t there an ethical issue when a drug company has a medication(s) that could prolong someone’s life and they don’t provide it despite the loss of profit? The biggest part of this question is this (too reitterate): Why are the drug companies not working so much toward a CURE for A.I.D.S, as opposed to making so much more money over the years by just maintaining the health of an HIV positive person for 10 or 20 years with medications? Is it MONEY over HOPE?

I believe that AIDS is like cancer, they aren’t looking for cures because there is no money in cures. They are looking for “treatments” because that is where the big bucks are. I’m sure the pharmaceutical companies are up to their eyeballs in the research end of these diseases.
It is not money over hope, it is MONEY over ALL.

of course. money over hope anyday in the pharmaceutical industry. why tell you about a cure when the treatment is so expensive? once you are cured you don’t need them anymore. simple as that
