I was just wondering about this since a friend of mine wants to suggest something to her parents so that they may be able to put their son in the right drug rehab. What are the factors to consider?

I would say first to avoid anything related to Narconon because it is not just drug rehabilitation, it’s actually a Scientology front group that cares more about money than helping people. Other than that, I would say to call a local hospital and ask to speak with a substance abuse counselor about getting a recommendation. Another thing to consider is how severe the addiction is–as in, does the person need in-patient or out-patient treatment.
